Wetland Plant Identification
A 2-day course designed for restoration practitioners to gain beginner level wetland plant identification skills. This training will provide introductory level instruction but is also appropriate for those wishing to refresh or strengthen their wetland plant identification skills.
Course includes:
- Instruction on how to key plants using taxonomic hierarchy
- Hands on plant ID with live specimens
- Introduction to the ecology of wetlands
- Field instruction at 3-4 sites at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary
- Introduction of flower morphology, inflorescence types and leaf and pubescence types
- Introduction to adaptations of vascular plants in hydrological conditions

- Tiner's Field Guide to Non-tidal Wetland Identification
- Days Afield: Exploring Wetlands in the Chesapeake Bay Region
Day 1 of the course is classroom instruction and Day 2 is hands-on in the field. Dress for the elements. Come prepared with water, sunscreen and bug spray.
